Network/Systems Engineer I

i2i has an immediate opening and currently seeks a full time Network and Systems Engineer that will report to their Corporate Offices located in Plano, Texas.The position requires 3-5 years of increasing experience/responsibility in I.T. operations with 1-3 years of direct experience in administering server and infrastructure systems including advanced knowledge of infrastructure hardware equipment, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related study, or a combination of education, certification and experience. Various technical certifications including CCNA designation a strong plus.

Description: Under general direction, with some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions, the engineer designs, installs, maintains and supports standard voice, video and data cabling systems, the hardware and software of servers and integrated computer infrastructure systems (LANs, WANs, MANs, CANs, SANs) for both the i2i environment and those of their clients. The engineer must have advanced technical ability and knowledge of the principles and practices involved to support systems in a multi-vendor environment, utilizing network management tools, testing equipment and evaluation methodologies according to industry standards and specifications, to ensure functionality and security.

Duties:  Performs day to day support and maintenance of both i2i and client infrastructures including IOS upgrades, routing table cleanup, staging, general configuration, testing and installation of servers and infrastructure components; Manages connectivity between internal and external systems; Monitors and manages network performance; Implements and enforces security and network policies, procedures, and standards; Designs and reviews equipment configurations and implements server and network changes; Participates in on-site server and network installations and site surveys, schedules and performs conversions, cutovers, and assesses and documents current configurations; Provides 1^st and 2^nd level support for existing servers and infrastructure and makes necessary adjustments in operating system, software and hardware; Monitors trouble tickets, provides diagnosis and resolution for all infrastructure components (servers, routers, switches, bridges, gateways, firewalls, back-up and storage solutions) and ensures problem resolution in a timely manner; Acts as a liaison between the client, suppliers and other technical groups to resolve problems in a timely manner; Submits written recommendations for design, development, testing, and installation schedules, and implementation of new infrastructure; Develops site administration manuals and documentation; Recommends changes and improvements to existing standards.This position reports to the i2i Corporate Office Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm and requires after-hours and weekend support to i2i and their clients when necessary; Requires approximately 10-20% travel outside of the DFW area, with 30% travel within the DFW area to support i2i clients. Dependable transportation, valid Texas driver’s license and current liability insurance is mandatory.

The individual selected for this position must have excellent communication skills in order to effectively communicate complex technical information and ideas in layman’s terms to i2i staff and client’s I.T. staff and management; Must be able to work independently with little oversight and work easily within team environments; Acquire additional certifications within specific time frames as defined by i2i Management; Pass background check and drug testing (required by some i2i Clients and contracts).

Hands-on experience required for Server build and configurations, Cisco, VMware and Microsoft with working knowledge in the following hardware and software technologies:
